CABS are the voice of the UK’s business and management education sector. They support their members to maintain world-class standards of teaching and research, and help shape policy and create opportunities through dialogue with business and government.
They hold four annual conferences and Ocean were asked to design a logo for each. The logos had to include the title of the conference, the year which could be updated annually and an image or icon that would reflect the tone and audience of each event. Other considerations were that the logos had to look distinctive and at the same time only use CABS brand values and colours, work at different sizes both in print and digital media and also be legible in black and white. Here are the final individual results for each.
This is the flagship conference and is for their most senior people in membership. The logo has been designed using the CABS corporate colours and the interlocking building blocks provide a vehicle for adding visual content.
This logo has a more contemporary tone to reflect the more relaxed feel as this event attracts a more relaxed crowd of teachers and students. It has the widest age range and mix of seniority. The colours palette and interlocking shapes has been chosen to add a more innovative quality.
The third logo is aimed at non-academic staff and adopts a more corporate tone through the use of the subdued colour palette. Four option corner options are available to use and other shapes have been developed to carry the theme and incorporate images.
The final logo is aimed at a purely academic audience and again, has a formal look. There are three variations but all are based around the ‘magnifying glass’ symbol which can either hold a single image, six segments of colour and images or a complex kaleidoscope pattern of colour and images.
